Applications

The Mayasil process extracts silica from RHA and other ash using ethylene glycol (antifreeze, EGH ). The resulting product, tetraglycoxysilane
[Si(OCH CH OH) ], or MayaGS  , is a low cost polyol for the production of rigid polyurethane foams with inherent resistance to combustion.

The second step of the Mayasil Process produces Si(OEt)  (tetraethoxysilane, TEOS), which is widely used in coatings, casting, abrasives, insulators, and semiconductor fabrication. The latter application relies on TEOS derived very high purity precipitated SiO .
